What is Lactose?
Lactose is the sugar found uniquely in milk and before absorption is broken down to its constituent sugars, glucose and galactose, by the enzyme lactase.
• Avoid sources of milk and milk products as well as added lactose
• Read labels to check for added ingredients
Did you know?
Hard cheeses such as Cheddar, Emmental, Edam and Parmesan contain very little lactose.
