There are so many snacking options available on the market today, but many are packed with empty calories that don’t fill you up or keep you going throughout a busy day. While we all know that the best snacks satisfy hunger, choosing the right snack can often be overwhelming.

New research has found that 41% of UK dieters are shunning snacking as part of their bid to lose weight1 but snacking shouldn’t automatically be seen as the villain if you’re watching your weight. Snacking can be an opportunity to increase your intake of essential nutrients and vitamins without impacting your waistline.

How? Almonds!
Jam-packed with 15 essential nutrients (per 100g) and with 160 calories per handful2 – almonds are a tasty, weight-wise snack you can feel good about. What’s more, recent research has shown that almonds may actually contain up to 25% fewer calories than originally thought.

Researchers expanded upon the traditional method used to estimate calories by including measurement of the number of calories actually digested and absorbed.

Taking bioavailability into account, researchers determined that whole unroasted almonds provided 25% fewer calories, whole roasted almonds provided 19% fewer calories, and chopped roasted almonds provided 17% fewer calories than listed on the nutrition label.
